OAKLAND GALBRAITH
12-year-old mixed-media artist from VanCity

Welcome to my world.
I am a mixed-race artist focusing on ideas of identity, inclusion, and the social fabric that makes up my city. My work has been featured by the Vancouver Mural Festival 2020, the City of Vancouver Electrical Art Installation Box Project, Prism Literary Journal & The Happening Dance Company. I will also be in a CBC documentary on street art soon!
I am always looking for new ways to share my work, and collaborate with others. I am currently accepting commissions for Fall 2020. Contact me if you have a project you'd like me to quote for. I also do work for free for good causes like animals, the environment and kids.
As part of my mural, I placed stars that were sponsored by donations from people in my community, far and wide, for Black Lives Matter. Together, we raised over $3000!

With the closure of galleries, street art has been the eye candy satisfying a public hungry for art and culture. Street art began as a site of rebellion and protest. Over the years it has been co-opted and corporatized, but still its independence endures. This episode we consider the question: in this moment of transformation, what is the role of street art today and what will be its future? (my section starts at 17:55)

Vancouver Mural Fest 2020
This summer, I was selected as the youngest Vancouver Mural Festival participant. I finished my piece in August, and am already excited to apply to other mural festivals next year!

I post most of my work on Instagram, and hope you have a chance to check out my stuff and give me a follow. It's worth it ;-)

Vancouver Electrical Box Wrap
In 2019, my work was selected to cover an electrical box in the heart of downtown Vancouver. I was the youngest artist on record to have their art chosen by the jury of pro artists.

My Mural!
My mural, "A People-Powered Future," is about a rocket ship being powered by the vision and hopes of Vancouverites for a greener and more inclusive future. The colours are all based off the inclusivity flag. Each star was applied after someone donated to BLM, and together we raised over $3000!!!
If you are in Vancouver, I hope you check out my mural. It's on Sophia + 11th, in the alley behind the Salvation Army. If you stop by, let me know what you think!
Vancouver Mural Fest 2020
Here are some images of the process of making the mural. It was a massive project, and I learned so much more than I ever imagined I could. I am so thankful for this opportunity, and I am hoping to be able to do many more murals.
Looking for a collaboration? Want an original piece for your home? I am ALWAYS interested in working with people on their projects.
Please reach out today with your idea, and I will get back to you ASAP to make it happen.
